Tom Griffith
Tom took his first yoga class in 1997 while finishing a bachelor’s degree in Art History at The Ohio State University. He began working as a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2005, the same year he completed Yoga on High’s 200-hour teacher training with Martha Marcom, Marcia Miller and Linda Oshins; his 500-hour certification followed in 2015. He has also completed teacher trainings with Tim Miller, Richard Freeman David Keil and Maty Ezraty, and is humbly grateful to them for their transmission of the living tradition of Ashtanga yoga. As an E-RYT 500-hour yoga instructor, he works as a lead teacher in Yoga on High’s 200-hour teacher training. Recently, through the Yoga on High Foundation, he has been honored to bring this practice of Ashtanga yoga to inmates at the Marion Correctional Institute. His greatest passion is teaching Mysore-style Ashtanga. This assisted self-practice is profoundly transformational, offering each student the opportunity to move at their own pace while receiving one-on-one instruction in a group setting. It brings him joy to be a part of the community of teachers and practitioners at Yoga on High. His goal as a teacher is to inspire passion, knowledge, understanding, insight, and a sense of accomplishment; to make accessible the history, philosophy and physicality of this practice.
